AVR Machine Organization

Our simulation is at a point where we can move data (which we call “signals” from component to component and generate some output to display what is happening. That much is great, but we need to get a better feel for how the various pieces that will make up our computer system tie together, and hat each component needs ot do.

Since we are building our simulator based on a real part, let’s take a peek at how that system is organized internally.

Initially, we will focus on just the processing unit itself, leaving out other features of the real system for the time being.
